The Stellana Kåsa

The Swedish drinking cup ”Kåsa” is well known throughout Scandinavia. The cup is stackable and commonly used in outdoor activities such as hiking and camping. A key feature of the design is its versatility, it can function both as a drinking cup and as a plate for food, making it an ideal choice for outdoor life.

Background

The history of Stellana’s kåsa began when the Swedish military needed a new drinking cup for their soldiers in the 1970’s. The assignment was given to Stellana in Laxå, Sweden, marking the beginning of the production of the triangular-shaped kåsa and the patenting of its original dimensions. Thanks to its clever and practical design, the cup quickly gained popularity among outdoor enthusiasts. It became available in a wide range of colors, and eventually, thousands of cups were delivered to the Swedish Scouts.

Stellana is proud to be part of the history of the kåsa. That’s why we’ve created a few cups of the original shape, made from bio-based material, to serve as a fun giveaway for our customers.
